How to simulate the operation using the venotomy model?

How to avoid infection during simulation

What are the types and models of venous incision models

The use of venotomy models for simulation is an important part of medical education and training. This simulation allows students to be familiar with and master the basic steps and techniques of phlebotomy before the real operation, thus improving the accuracy and safety of the operation in practical application. Here are the detailed steps for the simulation using the venotomy model:

First, the preparation stage

Prepare the model: First, make sure the venotomy model is in good condition with no broken or missing parts. Place the model on a smooth workbench for operation.

Prepare tools: Prepare necessary surgical instruments, such as scalpel, scissors, hemostatic forceps, suture needle, syringe, etc. At the same time, ensure that these instruments are clean, sterile and meet the requirements of simulated surgery.

Wear protective equipment: Wear surgical gowns, gloves and other protective equipment to ensure hygiene and safety during operation.

Second, the simulation operation stage

Disinfect and towel: The simulated skin on the model is disinfected with disinfectant and covered with a sterile towel. This step helps to simulate a real surgical environment and reduces the risk of infection.

Positioning and incision: Find the simulated position of the great saphenous vein on the model, and make a small incision along the vein with a scalpel. Note that the incision should not be too deep to avoid damage to the simulated blood vessels.

Separation of blood vessels: Using instruments such as hemostatic forceps, carefully separate the tissue under the simulated skin to expose the simulated great saphenous vein. During the separation process, the movement should be kept gentle to avoid unnecessary damage to the simulated blood vessels.

Insert a catheter: Make a small cut in the simulated vein wall and quickly insert the catheter into the vein cavity. Pay attention to the insertion Angle and depth of the catheter to ensure that the catheter can enter the vein smoothly and secure.

Connect the infusion system: Connect the distal end of the catheter to the infusion system and check whether the infusion is smooth. If there is extravasation or poor situation during the infusion process, adjust the position of the catheter in time or check whether there is a problem with the infusion system.

Suturing and bandaging: After the infusion is completed, the simulated incision is sutured using a suture needle and thread. When stitching, pay attention to the uniformity of needle distance and thread distance, as well as the tightness of the suture. After suturing, the simulated wound was bandaged with sterile gauze.

Iii. Summary and reflection

After the completion of the simulation operation, the whole operation process should be summarized and reflected. Analyze your advantages and disadvantages in the operation process, and find out where you need to improve, so that you can better cope with various situations in actual operation. At the same time, you can also communicate and learn with your peers or teachers to jointly improve the level of phlebotomy operation.
